Three easy hikes from Torbole
Windsurfing and sailing have made Torbole sul Garda famous, but it is also an excellent area for mountain biking and hiking, as some of the best routes north of Lake Garda can be found here. As a hotel for active holidaymakers, we would therefore also like to provide a special section for hiking enthusiasts.

Today we present 3 hiking trails starting out from the AktivHotel SantaLucia hotel for active holidaymakers. These are gentle routes through beautiful landscapes that are easily manageable even if you are not particularly fit and that are also well suited for hikers with children.

Valletta di Santa Lucia
Let’s start with the first route through the Valletta di Santa Lucia historic valley, from which the hotel takes its name. The trail through olive groves starts right from the hotel. It is a historic road along which the Venetian army transported its galleys (old warships) from the Adige to Lake Garda in 1439 in order to surprise the enemy from Milan.
The approximately 1-hour tour through the Santa Lucia Valley winds through the landscape of Nago and Torbole, with short climbs and picturesque views of the lake.

Busatte-Tempesta trail
This trail is a little longer and offers a breathtaking panorama. The 400 steps anchored to the mountainside above the lake, which make up a large part of the trail, lead you all the way to Tempesta, providing spectacular views.
The start of the trail is just a short walk from the AktivHotel SantaLucia, in the direction of Busatte Park. The tour takes around 2 hours and, if you are too tired for the return journey, you can also take the bus from Tempesta back to Torbole.
The Busatte-Tempesta tour is also suitable for children, but cannot be tackled by bike or with prams due to the many steps.

Marmitte dei Giganti (Giants’ Cauldrons)
The trail takes you back in time to the Ice Age. The giant hollows are a karst phenomenon in which the water has dug cavities of 4-5 metres, called Marmitte dei Giganti, into the rock.
From the hotel, take the main road via the Torbole piazza in the direction of Riva to Via Strada Granda and from here, following the signs for “Marmitte dei Giganti”, continue on a short hike (approx. 1 hour) through vineyards and olive groves offering panoramic views over Lake Garda. Alternatively, you can drive to Nago, turn left into the car park before the roundabout and then walk down to the “cauldrons”.

These 3 routes are just a small taste of the many possibilities to reach the beautiful surroundings comfortably on foot from the hotel for active holidaymakers in Torbole.
