Lake Garda in October
3 good reasons to take an autumn holiday
Lake Garda retains its Mediterranean charm even in autumn: the small villages nestled around the lake have a temperate climate and lush vegetation in September, October and even November. So, why not discover the pleasure of being outdoors while taking in the sights of Lake Garda?
We have found at least three good reasons to get you excited about a holiday at Lake Garda at this time of year. Has this sparked your curiosity? Here they are:
The ideal climate for outdoor sports
Everyone knows that Lake Garda and the surrounding areas have a Mediterranean climate thanks to the balancing power of the water. This means pleasant temperatures even in the winter months, when it rarely rains, and an evergreen landscape with olive trees, palm trees
and forests surrounding the lakes’ shores.
From September onwards, the weather conditions are ideal for any sport. Sailing, hiking and mountain biking will never have seemed so pleasant as under a clear, blue October sky and the warm rays of the afternoon sun.
The tranquillity in the villages by the lake
Ah, peace and quiet! Roads clear, no traffic and trails almost exclusively for you. Anyone who has ever been to Lake Garda between September and October knows the advantages of going “out of season”. You can visit the peaceful villages on the lake at your leisure or focus entirely on nature. You will probably only meet a few people on the trails... and that will make it even more enjoyable.
Autumn festivals and regional products
Autumn is the time for harvesting grapes and apples as well as the fruits of the forest, such as chestnuts and mushrooms. During this time, almost every town celebrates its typical product with a traditional festival.
High-quality red wines, such as Amarone and Recioto, are produced at Lake Garda and in the surrounding area. Among the white wines, Nosiola, Custoza, Soave and Lugana are particularly worth mentioning, and the remarkable red wines include Bardolino, Valpolicella, Marzemino and Teroldego.
And what about the precious olive oil from Lake Garda? We recommend going to see the pressing at one of the moulins around the lake and taking the opportunity to appreciate the quality for yourself and buy a supply for home.
In autumn, the “regional taste” is also celebrated in wineries and restaurants offering themed menus and tastings. In short, the table is set for you, gourmets!
Take a break and enjoy the Mediterranean climate in the enchanting landscape of Lake Garda!
